The name given to this country because it was believed to be rich in gold. However, nowadays when nature is under great attack everywhere, it is considered to be rich in what nature has to offer in terms of its biodiversity with its lush forests and nature reserves that is home to many species of birds, plants and animals, some not seen anywhere else on earth.
Another interesting fact about this country, with a population of approximately 5.2 million, is that it is the only country of considerable size and one of the few in the world without a standing army.
