Street-Theatre Production

Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest, “Rise: A Story of Shipwreck and Hope” is an interactive play that asks the audience and performers, “What does a ‘tempest’ look and feel like to you?” Reflecting the daily challenges of life, the show begins with a choreographed shipwreck and follows the characters as they row their way to undergo a series of playful escapades. It culminates in a message of empowerment, connection, and celebration as the lost shipmates reunite with each other, claim their strength and equilibrium, and rebuild their ship. Featuring live music, giant puppets, interactive storytelling, and choreography, “Rise” will be performed in significant outdoor historic spaces such as Washington Square Park in New York, Faneuil Hall in Boston, and the Lincoln Memorial. We will also tour smaller communities, performing at farmers’ markets and state fairs to reach a diverse audience, aiming to bring the arts to the people!

About Sahaja Yoga

Sahaja Yoga was founded in 1970 by Nirmala Srivastava (1923-2011), known by millions of Her spiritual followers as Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Shri Mataji discovered a technique to awaken the Kundalini energy within human beings. She dedicated Her life to teaching people of all nationalities, races, and religious backgrounds how to use Sahaja Yoga to better theirs. She envisioned the regular practice of Sahaja Yoga producing evolved societies, where people lead joyful, balanced lives.

About Sahaja Yoga

Founded in 1970 by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga is a worldwide meditation practice that is always offered free of charge. What makes Sahaja Yoga unique is that it begins with Self Realization — the awakening of your inner energy. This leads to a state of thoughtless awareness, allowing you to experience the present moment fully, naturally become more balanced, centered, and connected, enhancing your well-being and harmonious relationships over time.

After discovering a technique to awaken the Kundalini energy within human beings, Shri Mataji dedicated Her life to teaching people of all nationalities, cultures, and faiths, enabling them to grow and transform through Sahaja Yoga. Her vision was that regular practice would foster a more evolved society — one in which individuals lead joyful, balanced, and fulfilling lives.
